This Privacy Policy explains how Toams Financial ("Toams," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, protects, and shares the information you provide when you use our Net Worth Portal (the "Portal") to calculate and track your net worth. By using the Portal, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to calculate your net worth and give you a place to track it.
Information you provide
- Identifying details: your name, email address, phone number, and marital status.
- Financial details: the assets and liabilities you enter — such as cash and investment balances, property values, mortgages, and other loans — and the net worth calculated from them.
- Account credentials: if you create an account, the email address and password you use to sign in. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are stored in an encrypted (hashed) form; we never see or store your password in plain text.
Information from third parties
- Property value estimates: when you ask us to estimate a property's value from its address, we retrieve an estimated figure from a third-party property-data source. This is an estimate for planning purposes only — it is not an appraisal or a guarantee of market value.
Technical information
To keep you signed in, our authentication provider stores a session token in your browser. We do not use advertising trackers or sell information about your browsing.
2. How we use your information
We use the information you provide to:
- calculate your net worth and show you the results;
- save your snapshots so you can log in and track changes over time;
- let your Toams advisor review your information and provide guidance;
- contact you about your snapshot, your account, or your relationship with Toams; and
- maintain, secure, and improve the Portal.
We do not sell your personal or financial information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
3. How we store and protect it
Your information is stored in a secured database hosted by our infrastructure providers. We rely on a combination of safeguards, including:
- Encryption in transit and at rest — information is encrypted as it travels to and from the Portal and while stored.
- Access controls at the database level — the database is configured so that a signed-in client can only ever read their own information. This is enforced by the database itself, not just hidden in the interface.
- Limited internal access — within Toams, your information is accessible to your advisor and authorized team members who need it to serve you.
No system can be guaranteed to be perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information using reasonable, industry-standard measures.
4. When we share information
We share your information only in these limited circumstances:
- With your Toams advisor and our team, to provide the service.
- With service providers who operate the Portal on our behalf (see the next section). They are permitted to use your information only to provide their service to us.
- When required by law, such as to comply with a legal obligation, respond to lawful requests, or protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
- In connection with a business transfer, such as a merger or acquisition, subject to this policy.
We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
5. Third-party services
We use trusted providers to run the Portal. Each handles data under its own security and privacy commitments:
- Database & authentication — stores your snapshots and manages secure sign-in.
- Website hosting — serves the Portal to your browser.
- Property-data provider — supplies the optional property value estimate when you request it.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your snapshots and account information for as long as you maintain an account with us, so your history remains available to you, and for as long afterward as we reasonably need it to meet legal, regulatory, or recordkeeping obligations. You can ask us to delete your information as described below.
7. Your choices and rights
- Access and update: you can log in at any time to view your snapshots and submit updated figures.
- Correction: if something is wrong and you can't correct it yourself, contact us and we'll help.
- Deletion: you can ask us to delete your account and associated information, subject to any records we're required to keep.
- Questions: you can contact us about how your information is handled at any time.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws. Contact us to exercise any of them.
8. Cookies and local storage
The Portal uses only what's necessary to work: a secure session token stored in your browser so you stay signed in. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels.
9. Children's privacy
The Portal is intended for adults age 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will remove it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and, where appropriate, let you know through the Portal. Your continued use of the Portal after an update means you accept the revised policy.
